About Diamante bowls: The crystals are added once the bowl has been glazed, and are inset slightly into the clay and glued with a very strong, water-resistant glue made especially for bonding crystals onto various surfaces. Our cats both have diamante-embellished bowls which have been washed numerous times with no ill effects, however although we have put their bowls through the dishwasher a number of times, we would recommend handwashing.

Gold lustre bowl - additional £30.00

About gold lustre: Lustre is an additional process and you may have seen antique teacups etc with small areas of lustre applied - with a standard bowl the clay is fired once (bisque firing), and then glazed. Where lustre is required, the bowl is bisqued and glazed, and then undergoes a third firing at a much lower temperature to enable the lustre to bond with the glaze. This low firing means that the kiln will often be fired with just one bowl in it as it is too low a temperature to reach bisque. Bowls with lustre are fully washable (otherwise they'd be a bit hopeless as pet bowls!) but as with diamante bowls, we would recommend handwashing.

Please note that the size of the crystals will be adjusted according to the size of the bowl you have ordered. If you would particularly like eg 8mm crystals on your cat bowl, please let me know when ordering.
